What is HelloPrenup?
HelloPrenup is an online platform where engaged couples build a state-specific prenuptial agreement. Each partner answers separately, the platform flags where your answers differ, and in most states you can e-sign and notarize online (a $50 add-on, included with attorney representation). Independent attorneys are available as paid add-ons. HelloPrenup is not a law firm.
Its pricing page says it was founded by an attorney, and the company appeared on Shark Tank in Season 13. HelloPrenup says it is available in 49 states, not yet in West Virginia. In South Carolina it offers only its attorney-signed version, at $2,197 per couple.
How does HelloPrenup work?
Step 1
Each of you answers separately
Each partner has their own account and fills out their own questionnaire and financial disclosure: assets, debts and income.
Step 2
Settle where your answers differ
The platform highlights where your answers conflict, and you work through them in the app. You can add an attorney Q&A or full attorney representation at this point.
Step 3
Sign and notarize
Both partners e-sign and notarize through the platform (a $50 add-on, included with attorney representation) on a video call with a notary, even from separate locations. A few states require signing in person.
HelloPrenup estimates 1 to 2 hours of work in total. You can start for free. The $599 is paid once, by one partner, when you are ready to finish the full questionnaire. Its FAQ says signing has to happen in person in Alabama, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Vermont and Wisconsin, and suggests starting at least 2 to 3 months before the wedding.

- Attorney representation covers a one-hour consultation, document review and customization, three rounds of revisions, and the attorney signing as counsel.
- HelloPrenup lists Afterpay or Klarna for paying over time.
- Once you have paid the $599, HelloPrenup's FAQ says refunds are evaluated case by case.
What does the $599 include, and what does it not?
From HelloPrenup's pricing page and terms. The short version: the $599 buys the platform and the agreement it produces, and any attorney time is extra.
Included
- A guided questionnaire for each partner
- A state-specific agreement
- Financial disclosure schedules for each partner
- Unlimited edits before signing
- E-signature, where your state permits it
- Downloadable copies
- Optional clauses at no extra cost, such as a sunset clause or pet custody
Not included
- An attorney working on your specific prenup. HelloPrenup’s pricing page says so directly.
- Online notarization, $50 per couple.
- A 20 minute attorney Q&A, $49 per session.
- Attorney representation, $799 per partner.
- A legal check of your answers. HelloPrenup’s terms say it does not review your answers or apply the law to your situation.
HelloPrenup's FAQ also says its agreements cannot include child support or child custody terms.
Is HelloPrenup legit and enforceable?
HelloPrenup is a real company, Hello Prenup, Inc., based in Boston. It appeared on Shark Tank in Season 13, and LegalZoom runs a partner page that sends couples to it. On Trustpilot it holds 4.5 out of 5 from 263 reviews (November 2026, see Trustpilot (opens in a new tab)). It is not a law firm and does not give legal advice, which its own site says plainly.
Whether a prenup holds up is a different question, and no platform or lawyer can promise it. Courts look at how an agreement was made: full financial disclosure from both partners, each partner signing voluntarily, enough time before the wedding, and signing the way the state requires. Being made online does not decide it on its own, in either direction.
An independent attorney for each partner can strengthen an agreement, and some terms need one. HelloPrenup's FAQ says waiving spousal support requires an attorney for each partner in Alabama, California, New York and Washington. Some states also set timing rules. For example, California requires at least 7 calendar days between first receiving the final agreement and signing it, and Minnesota, for agreements signed on or after August 1, 2024, presumes an agreement enforceable when it is signed at least 7 days before the wedding.
Build your prenup timeline from your wedding dateWho is HelloPrenup built for?
- Couples who already agree on the major terms and want them written into a state-specific agreement.
- Couples who want a published, flat price: $599 per couple, with attorney help added only if they want it.
- Couples who prefer to work online on their own schedule. HelloPrenup estimates 1 to 2 hours of work in total.
- Couples who want a state-licensed attorney available for questions without starting at a law office.
- Couples who live apart before the wedding, since the notary video call works from separate locations.
When do two separate attorneys fit better?
Two separate attorneys can mean HelloPrenup's attorney-signed version ($2,197 per couple) or two lawyers you hire on your own. They tend to fit better when:
- You expect to negotiate major terms, such as spousal support or a large gap in income or assets.
- One of you owns a complex business, is a trust beneficiary, or holds property in several states or countries.
- You want to sit down with your own lawyer in person.
- You live in West Virginia, where HelloPrenup is not available yet.

Prices from each company's site, November 2026. The traditional attorney range is LegalShield's published estimate, and real fees depend on your state, your lawyers and how much you negotiate. HelloPrenup's FAQ cites its own 2024 survey of family law attorneys at $4,500 to $10,000 per couple for a traditional law firm.
The short version
If you and your partner already agree on the big terms, HelloPrenup gives you a state-specific prenup at a published price, with independent attorneys available if you want them. If you expect to negotiate, two separate attorneys tend to fit better, through HelloPrenup’s attorney-signed version or lawyers you hire yourselves.
HelloPrenup questions, answered
Is HelloPrenup legit?
Yes. HelloPrenup is run by Hello Prenup, Inc., a company based in Boston, and it appeared on Shark Tank in Season 13. It is an online platform for building a prenup, not a law firm, and it does not give legal advice. Attorneys available through it are independent attorneys in its network.
